Jeremiah 6:15-16
"Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush:
therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.
Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways, and see, and 'ask for the old paths,' where is the good way, and walk
therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein."

These Scriptures paint a picture of today's modernistic american culture as our nation and the world drifts further and further from God. Is there no shame anymore? There has never been a time of such open abomination as we see today. What used to cower in filthy back alleys, and kept quite, hidden, and confined as family secrets is now marching up and down main street U.S.A., in God's face, full of pride and contempt as if it's just the normal thing to do, women marrying women and men marrying men, and doing ungodly things, not long ago thought to be unimaginable (read Romans 1:24-32) and it is gaining steam in our legislatures, universities, local schools, and even in many (liberal) pulpits. Are they ashamed? No!
Webster defines abomination as EXTREME DISGUST, DETESTABLE, ABHORRENCE, LOATHSOME and so on. Obviously God hates abomination, God's people hates it, and most decent folks find it to be indeed, detestable and extreme disgust to the highest degree.
Nothing has separated and divided our land more than the ungodliness and sickening abomination that we see all around us today. Oil and water do not mix. There is no communion between darkness and light. All this is nothing more than a rejection of God Almighty. (Jeremiah 6:19)
"Ask for the Old Paths" The Word of God states, "the good way..."
God was about to give these people up and in fact, ten years later He did just that. (Daniel 1:1-2 "God gave them up") Considering the culture today, you say you stand for God, you stand for the Bible, for right, and you will be called a bigot, homophobic, hate filled, intolerant, promoting violence, and on-and-one. Nevertheless we are to stand in the ways, and the old paths, the good way, and walk therein. Speaking for myself, I sleep good at night. God said these things would come to pass but such does not give any of God's people excuse to give-in and cave-in to political correctness and the culture of change. One thing that will never change is the Lord God, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Neither is God's Word which is forever settled in Heaven.
This past week, my wife and I spent several days in Charlotte, N.C., attending a Cowboy Church gathering for preachers. The Meeting was in Midland, N.C., out in the rural area. If I had not seen it, I would have not believed it! Out on a farm, there was a barn, it looked like a barn, in fact it was not long ago used as a barn. You could see daylight through the cracks in the siding. None of this stopped some 100 plus from coming. They came from North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vermont, and other states, we were the only cowboy church from Virginia. They came wearing boots, hats, drove trucks (not all) and we had the best, and again I say BEST meeting I have ever attended. God was there, God walked among us, the preaching was the same as our church, we met and talked to many pastors and learned of some particular ministries, and made many friends.
We met in a barn! No stained glass, no fancy doings, no put on's, just God's humble people.
Sunday night we went back to a usual service and again the place was near filled, not many preachers just the regular folks. God was there, prayers was made, the
preaching was straight up and down as God would have it. We certainly felt right at home. If ever there was a plain old meeting, the Old Paths, this was it.
Afterwards, the talk was about gardens, horses, and there were some out practicing with bull whips. We had a delightful time and look forward to the next get-together.
Ask for the Old Paths, the Word declares. In our text verse, they said "we will not..."
Where did that leave them? Where does that leave the man/woman of the same feather today? God did not leave us hanging on this matter. "They shall be cast down, saith the Lord."
Long for the "OLD PATHS?" There is a church that meets every Sunday morning, 11:00 AM that stands for the Old Paths, the way that will never change. Visit with us at Fauquier Cowboy Church. May God bless!
